“Rehet Aavar Kuch Aavar Kamavat, Man Nahi Preet Mukho Gand Lavat” – Sukhmai Sahib… Sajjan means a nice person, a friend, a helper. There was a man with this name living in Tulamba (now in Pakistan). He was known as a good man in his area. He had constructed an inn for travelers to rest for the night. Whenever a traveler would forget anything in the inn, Sajjan kept it as his own. Slowly he developed the bad habit of stealing valuables of the travelers when they were sleeping at night. After some time, this bad habit made him a wicked man. He even killed people staying at his inn if he wanted to take away the travelers’ belongings. A “sajjan” because of his bad habits thus became a “thug.” The people, therefore, called him “Sajjan Thug.” On one of their journeys Guru Nanak Dev ji and Bhai Mardana ji stayed at Sajjan Thug’s Inn for the night. In the evening When Sajjan Thug was to rob the visitors( Guru ji), Guru Nanak Dev ji started singing a shabad while Bhai Mardana played

Bibi Harsharan Kaur: The Final Shaheed of the Battle of Chamkaur                   In the battle of Chamkaur, Guru Gobind Singh jee and 40 starving Singhs battle the Mughal army. The battle which took place in Chamkaur’s mud fort lasted 72 hours and saw the loss of many Mughal soldiers and also 36 of Guru Gobind Singh jee’s companions along with the two Sahibzadas. Fighting an army of hundreds of thousands, Guru Gobind Singh jee gave an exhibition of his battle skills. Guru jee, following the orders of the Panth Khalsa (in the form of the Punj Pyaaray) left the fort along with Bhai Daya Singh, Bhai Maan Singh and one other Singh, after giving his clothes to Bhai Sangat Singh jee to wear. Only Bhai Sangat Singh and Bhai Sant Singh fought the battle to its end. They too were martyred. http://www.dhansikhi.com/index.php/sakhi-sri-guru-nanak-dev-ji-da-makke-jana/ ਇਕ ਦਿਨ ਭਾਈ ਮਰਦਾਨੇ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਨੂੰ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕੀਤੀ, ”ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਜੰਗਲਾਂ ਵਿਚ, ਪਹਾੜਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਟੀਸੀਆਂ ਉੱਪਰ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਥਾਵਾਂ ਉੱਪਰ ਜਿਥੇ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਵੱਸਦਾ, ਲਈ ਫਿਰਦੇ ਹੋ। ਇਸਲਾਮ ਧਰਮ ਵਿਚ ਮੱਕੇ ਦੇ ਹੱਜ ਦੀ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ। ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮੱਕੇ ਦਾ ਹੱਜ ਕਰਵਾ ਦੇਵੋ।” ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਭਾਈ ਮਰਦਾਨੇ ਦੀ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਮੰਨ ਕੇ, ਉਸਨੂੰ ਨਾਲ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਮੱਕੇ ਵੱਲ ਚਲ ਪਏ। ਰਸਤੇ ਵਿਚ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੁਝ ਹੋਰ ਹਾਜੀ ਮਿਲ ਗਏ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਇੱਧਰ-ਉੱਧਰ ਦੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਕਰਨ ਲੱਗੇ। ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, ”ਭਾਈ ਮਰਦਾਨਿਆ, ਜਦੋਂ ਹੱਜ ਲਈ ਜਾਈਏ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਖ਼ੁਦਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ-ਬਾਤ ਹੋਣੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ। ਹੋਰ ਫਾਲਤੂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਕਰਦੇ ਜਾਣਾ ਹਾਜੀਆਂ ਲਈ ਸ਼ੋਭਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਹੱਜ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਨੂੰ ਕੁਝ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ।” ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਅਤੇ ਭਾਈ ਮਰਦਾਨਾ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਹਾਜੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਸਾਥ ਛੱਡ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਲਾਹ ਕਰਦੇ ਮੱਕੇ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਪੁੱਜੇ, ਜਿੱਥੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਹਾਜੀਆਂ ਵਾਲਾ ਨੀਲਾ ਬਾਣਾ ਪਹਿਨ ਲਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਬਗ਼ਲ ਵਿਚ ਆਪਣੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਦੀ ਕਿਤਾਬ ਰੱਖ ਲਈ। ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਹਿਰਾਵੇ ਵਿਚ ਉਹ ਮੱਕੇ ਦੀ ਮਸੀਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਚਲੇ ਗਏ। ਸਾਰਾ ਦਿਨ ਖ਼ੁਦਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਉਂਦਿਆਂ ਗੁਜ਼ਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਰਾਤ ਨੂੰ ਆਰਾਮ ਕਰਨ ਗਏ। ਸਵੇਰੇ ਸ
